BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad Credit Card Changes for 2026: 3X on Gas and EV Charging, Points Worth Double at BMW
September 27, 2026

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of the offers mentioned may have expired.
On October 13, 2026, U.S. Bank and BMW Financial Services North America announced a refresh of the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad Mastercard® credit cards. The updated cards simplify the rewards to one main bonus rate, add 3X points on gas, EV charging and tolls, and double what your points are worth when you spend them at BMW.
Here's what changed, what the card earns now, and who it makes sense for.
What Changed on the BMW Credit Card?
The cards come in three versions: the BMW Mastercard®, the MINI Mastercard®, and the BMW Motorrad Mastercard® for motorcycle owners. U.S. Bank has issued them since 2020, and all three run on the Mastercard network with no annual fee.
The refresh applies to both new and existing cardholders, so if you already carry a BMW card from U.S. Bank, check your account for how the changes apply to you.
The information for the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad Mastercard® has been collected independently by Kudos. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Gas rewards come with caps. Many grocery and gas cards limit how much spending earns the bonus rate. See how the caps compare.
What Does the BMW Credit Card Earn Now?
- 3X points per $1 on BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad purchases
- 3X points per $1 at eligible gas stations and EV charging stations
- 3X points per $1 on tollway charges
- 1 point per $1 on all other purchases
The gas, EV charging and toll categories are the bigger change for everyday use. You don't need to be buying a car to earn the bonus rate, just driving one.
Welcome Offer: earn 10,000 bonus points after spending $500 on eligible net purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
Intro APR: 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 billing cycles. After that, the variable APR will be 17.74% to 30.74%, based on creditworthiness.

3X on gas and EV charging only pays off if you actually use the card at the pump. Kudos recommends the best card in your wallet for every purchase, so you'll know whether the BMW card or another card in your wallet earns more on each fill-up.

How Much Are BMW Card Points Worth?
It depends on where you redeem them.
- At BMW: points are worth 2 cents each when redeemed for eligible BMW purchases, including BMW Rewards Cards, BMW Real-Time Rewards at participating dealerships, and BMW Financial Services loan or lease payments.
- Everywhere else: points are worth 1 cent each, for example when redeemed for cash back.
Using the issuer's example, 10,000 points are worth $200 toward a BMW Financial Services loan or lease, compared with $100 as cash back. That makes the 10,000-point welcome offer worth $200 if you spend it at BMW.
To get the doubled value on loan or lease payments, you need to enroll your eligible BMW Financial Services account. Once enrolled, you can also set up automatic redemptions that sweep your points toward your payment.
Put the earn rate and the redemption value together, and 3X points at the pump or the charger works out to roughly 6% back if you redeem at BMW, or 3% if you take cash back.
Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on 3 points per $1 at 2 cents per point for eligible BMW redemptions and 1 cent per point for other redemptions.
What Other Benefits Does the Card Include?
BMW Card ExtendPay: eligible cardholders can split qualifying BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad purchases and services into 6 months of payments with no fees or interest. U.S. Bank describes this as an always-on offer, so it isn't a limited-time promotion.
No annual fee: the card costs nothing to keep, which matters if you plan to use it mainly for the BMW redemption value.

When Do the BMW Credit Card Changes Take Effect?
Now. The refreshed card went live on October 13, 2026, and the official BMW credit card site already shows the new 3X earn rate, 2X redemption value and 10,000-point welcome offer. You can apply on the BMW credit card website, the MINI credit card website, the BMW Motorrad Card page, or at participating BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad dealerships.
Who Should Get the BMW Credit Card?
- You finance or lease through BMW Financial Services. Points worth 2 cents toward your payment is the card's strongest feature.
- You drive a lot. 3X on gas, EV charging and tolls applies to spending you already have.
- You service your car at a BMW, MINI or BMW Motorrad dealership. You earn 3X on the service, then redeem at double value.
Who Should Skip It?
- You don't plan to redeem at BMW. Outside BMW, points are worth 1 cent, so the card earns 3% on its bonus categories and 1% on everything else.
- Most of your spending is outside gas and BMW. A flat-rate cash back card will likely return more on general spending.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the MINI and BMW Motorrad credit cards get the same changes?
Yes. U.S. Bank announced the same refresh for all three cards: 3X points on BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad purchases, gas, EV charging and tolls, the 10,000-point welcome offer, and double point value when you redeem at BMW, MINI or BMW Motorrad dealerships.
Does the BMW credit card have an annual fee?
No. The BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad Mastercard® cards have no annual fee.
Who issues the BMW credit card?
U.S. Bank issues the card in partnership with BMW Financial Services North America. It runs on the Mastercard network.
How do I get double value for my points?
Redeem them for eligible BMW purchases, such as BMW Rewards Cards, BMW Real-Time Rewards at participating dealerships, or BMW Financial Services loan or lease payments. For loan or lease payments, enroll your eligible account first.
Does the card earn bonus points on EV charging?
Yes. Eligible EV charging station purchases earn 3X points per $1, the same as gas and tolls.
What is the BMW card's welcome offer?
New cardholders earn 10,000 bonus points after spending $500 on eligible net purchases within 90 days of account opening. Redeemed at BMW, that's worth $200.
The Bottom Line
The refreshed BMW credit card is a strong fit for BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad owners who finance, lease or service through BMW. Earning 3X on driving costs and redeeming at 2 cents per point turns gas, charging and tolls into money off your car payment. If you won't redeem at BMW, the value drops by half, and a general rewards card is likely the better pick.
