Savor vs Blue Cash Everyday: Which Is Better?

Bonus Categories

The Savor rewards going out: restaurants, movie and event tickets, and streaming, plus grocery stores. The Blue Cash Everyday rewards running a household: supermarkets, gas, and online shopping.

Both cards pay 3% on groceries, but the Savor has no cap and excludes superstores, while the Blue Cash Everyday applies to U.S. supermarkets with a $6,000 annual cap.

Spending Caps

The Savor's bonus categories are unlimited. The Blue Cash Everyday's 3% categories each stop at $6,000 per year, so very high spenders in those categories will see part of their spending earn 1%.

Redemption

Savor cash back can be redeemed for any amount. Blue Cash Everyday Reward Dollars are redeemed as a statement credit on your account.

Travel Abroad

The Savor charges no foreign transaction fee. The Blue Cash Everyday charges 2.7% on each transaction made outside the U.S., so it is a weaker choice to carry on international trips.

Compare Cards With Kudos

If you're unsure which categories dominate your budget, Kudos can help. You can compare cards side by side in the Kudos card explorer and test drive a card against your real spending before you apply.

Once you hold more than one card, the Kudos browser extension can autofill your best card at checkout, so a dinner goes on the Savor and an online order goes on the Blue Cash Everyday without you having to remember which is which.

Kudos Premium adds automatic offer activation: when you visit the American Express site, it activates eligible offers for your Blue Cash Everyday® Card for you, then reminds you at checkout. It also works with Chase, Citi, Bank of America and Wells Fargo offers if you carry cards from those issuers.

Who Should Choose the Capital One Savor?

The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card suits people who eat out often, buy event or movie tickets, and pay for streaming services. Because its 3% categories have no caps, it also works well for larger households with big grocery bills at traditional grocery stores.

For a deeper look at the card's terms, read our Capital One Savor review.

Who Should Choose the Blue Cash Everyday Card?

The Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express suits people whose spending is concentrated at U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, and online retailers, and who stay at or under $6,000 per year in each category.

It's also a fit if you already pay for a Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN streaming subscription and will enroll in the monthly credit. Our Blue Cash Everyday review covers the details, and our guide to grocery and gas cash back caps explains how those limits work.

Alternatives to Consider

If neither card matches your spending, two other cash back cards are worth a look.

Tips for Application Success

Before You Apply

  • Check your credit. Most cash back rewards cards are designed for applicants with good to excellent credit.
  • Map your spending. Add up a few months of dining, entertainment, grocery, gas, and online shopping to see which card's categories you'd use most.
  • Review the welcome offer terms. Both issuers update their offers periodically, so confirm the current spend requirement and timeframe on the issuer's page.

Application Strategy

  • Know the issuer's rules. Amex may not grant a Welcome Offer if you have or have had the same card, and Capital One limits its bonus for people who received it recently.
  • Space out applications. Each application usually means a hard inquiry, so apply only for the card you plan to use.

Our Methodology

Kudos evaluates nearly 3,000 credit cards across the U.S. market, far more than the roughly 150 cards commonly featured on sites that focus only on products tied to affiliate commissions. The goal is a complete, unbiased view of the market so you can make confident, data-driven decisions.

Our editorial team verifies card terms against issuer sources. You can also explore the full dataset yourself in the Kudos card explorer, which includes thousands of cards, more than 95% of which do not pay us commissions.
