How to Get (and Maximize) the Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K Bonus
July 1, 2025

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date. Chase Sapphire Preferred® welcome bonus offers and eligibility requirements are subject to change. Terms apply.
What's the Offer?
Right now, new Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card cardholders can earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.
At Kudos' current valuations, those 100,000 points are worth approximately $2,050 — making this one of the most valuable welcome bonuses available on any travel credit card today.
There's no announced end date for this offer, and Chase has only extended a bonus this high a handful of times since 2021. If you've been on the fence, now is the time to move.
Is This Actually a Good Deal?
Yes — genuinely one of the best we've seen.
Here's the math: the minimum spend is $5,000 over three months, or about $1,667/month. The points you earn are worth over $1,000 at minimum when redeemed through Chase Travel, and potentially $2,000+ when transferred to airline and hotel partners. That's a 20%+ return on your spending threshold, before you factor in any ongoing earning.
For context, the Chase Sapphire Preferred normally offers 60,000–75,000 points. Getting to 100,000 is rare.
Am I Eligible?
Before you apply, run through this checklist:
- You don't currently hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred. If you do, you're not eligible for the welcome bonus.
- You haven't previously earned a welcome bonus on this card. Even if you no longer have it, a prior bonus disqualifies you.
- You're under Chase's 5/24 rule. If you've opened five or more credit cards (from any issuer) in the past 24 months, Chase will likely deny your application.
- You haven't received a bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve in the past 48 months — though as of January 2026, Chase updated its rules so holding the Reserve no longer automatically disqualifies you from the Preferred bonus.
If you're unsure about your card history, check Credit Karma or your credit report before applying.
Does the Annual Fee Count Toward the Spending Requirement?
No. The Chase Sapphire Preferred has a $95 annual fee, but fees don't count as purchases. Only actual purchases count toward the $5,000 minimum.
Also note: the three-month clock starts at account approval, not when your physical card arrives. Make sure you're tracking from the right date.
You can monitor your spending progress in the Chase app or on Chase's website.

Tips for Meeting the $5,000 Spending Requirement
$5,000 in three months works out to roughly $1,667/month. If your regular expenses don't quite get you there, a few approaches that can help:
- Shift all everyday spending (groceries, gas, dining, subscriptions) to the new card temporarily
- Pay your rent or mortgage with the card if your landlord or servicer allows it without a fee that offsets the benefit
- Time a large planned purchase (appliance, flight, home repair) to coincide with card opening
- Put business expenses on the card if applicable
Avoid manufactured spending or anything that incurs fees that negate the value.
What Can You Do With 100,000 Chase Points?
A lot. Chase Ultimate Rewards is one of the most flexible points currencies available. You have two main redemption paths:
Option 1: Redeem through Chase Travel Book flights, hotels, and experiences directly through Chase's travel portal at up to 1.75 cents per point (with Chase's Points Boost feature). That makes 100,000 points worth $1,750 toward travel.
Option 2: Transfer to airline and hotel partners Chase has 14 transfer partners, including:
- Air Canada Aeroplan
- United MileagePlus
- Southwest Rapid Rewards
- British Airways Executive Club
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
- World of Hyatt
- Marriott Bonvoy
- IHG One Rewards
Transferring to the right program at the right time can unlock outsized value — think business class flights or luxury hotel stays that would otherwise cost thousands of dollars out of pocket.
What If I Applied Recently at 75,000 Points?
There's some good news here. Readers who applied within roughly 10 days of the 100,000-point offer going live (mid-June 2026) have had success calling Chase to request a match to the current offer. It doesn't always work, but it's worth a call.
Chase's customer service number is on the back of your card. If you're denied and want to appeal, you can call the reconsideration line at 1-888-338-2586.
Can My Partner and I Both Get the Bonus?
Yes — as long as you both independently qualify. That means neither of you currently has the card, neither has earned a Sapphire welcome bonus previously, and both of you are under 5/24. If you can both meet the $5,000 spending requirements, you're looking at 200,000 points combined.
