If you’re looking for a way to start building your credit (or you need to repair some damage that’s already been done), you may want to check out the Revvi Visa credit card.

The Revvi credit card can be a smart option for people with fair or poor credit. But just like other credit cards, it’s important to remember that this card has a few key pros and cons.

This guide will explain who the Revvi Visa credit card is for, spell out the Revvi Visa credit card’s fee structure, and explain how to apply for the Revvi Visa card.

Is the Revvi Visa Card for me?

If you have a poor credit history (or no credit history at all), one option you may want to check out is the Revvi credit card.

The Revvi credit card (or the Revvi Visa credit card) is designed primarily for consumers who have bad credit and want to improve their credit or build their credit history. This is because you don’t need a high credit score to qualify for the Revvi Visa.

It’s worth noting that the Revvi Visa card isn’t right for everybody.

The Revvi card has multiple fees and a pretty low credit limit of just $300. As a result, it isn’t a great fit if you’re on the hunt for a credit card that you can use to make big purchases. In fact, it’s not even the cheapest credit-building card available on the market today — but it does have a couple of key advantages that make it worth checking out. We’ll discuss those benefits in just a minute.

What Makes This Credit Card Different?

First things first: the Revvi Visa is a secured credit card. That means you can use the Revvi credit card to build your credit profile if you currently have a low credit score or a very limited credit history.

What makes the Revvi credit card different from other types of credit cards is that it offers a cash back perk. That’s pretty unique among secured credit cards, and you’re unlikely to find it with a lot of other popular options. It means you’ll get 1% cash back for every dollar you spend using your Revvi card.

There are a couple of other unique selling points (USPs) to consider about the Revvi card, too.

First, there’s the Revvi app.

The Revvi app enables you to check your credit score changes constantly thanks to its credit-monitoring tool. This tool is powered by TransUnion, one of the three big credit bureaus (alongside Experian and Equifax). That means the credit score changes you see on the Revvi app are going to be pretty accurate.

Unlike many other popular secured credit cards, the Revvi Visa allows you to add an authorized user to your account during the application process. That means if you live with a significant other and share your finances, you can both use your Revvi card to build your household credit.

But it’s worth bearing in mind that the APR on the Revvi card (34.9%) is a little bit higher than other secured cards, like the Destiny Credit Card (29.9%). Likewise, the fees on the Revvi Visa are higher than other secured cards. For example, the Destiny Mastercard has no setup fee — while the Self Visa card has a setup fee of just $9 (compared to the Revvi card’s $89 fee).

What are My Chances of Getting Approved?

Your chances of getting approved for the Revvi Visa card are pretty good.

The Revvi credit card is designed primarily as a credit-building tool for people with poor (or fair) credit scores who want to improve those scores. That being said, there are a few eligibility criteria that you’ll need to meet if you want to get approved for the Revvi card.

First, you’ll need a checking account. When you apply, you’ll need to have your routing number and your checking account number handy. That’s because you’ll need to pay a one-time activation fee when you set up your Revvi account.

Next, you’ll need a FICO score of at least 550. According to Equifax, a fair credit score usually ranges from around 580 to 679. That means you should get approved even if your credit is relatively poor.

In addition to a checking account and a FICO score, you’ll need to have made on-time payments for at least a year on your other accounts, have no derogatory items on your credit history, and no tax liens. For reference, a federal tax lien is when the government has a legal claim against your property because you’ve failed to pay a tax debt.

Perks and Rewards

The single greatest perk that the Revvi credit card has is its cash back program. With this program, you can earn 1% when you spend and pay back your card. There’s a tiny catch, though. Although you can start earning cash back immediately, you can only redeem your cash back after you’ve had your Revvi Visa card for six months.

Your cash back can be redeemed for statement credits in increments of 500 points or $5 — whichever you prefer. Those redemptions can be processed through the Revvi app or MyCCPay.com. You can also redeem your points by calling Revvi customer service.

Just so you know, the cash back you earn with your Revvi card never expires.

In addition to earning cash back, you’ll benefit from the ordinary consumer protections that go hand in hand with a Visa card — including identity theft protection and zero liability protection.

How to Apply

Applying for the Revvi credit card is fast and simple using Revvi’s online application form.

Most Revvi Visa card applications will get a decision within minutes. Every once in a while, Revvi will need more information to process your application. If that happens, they will send you an email or give you a pending application letter with instructions on what to do next.

After your application gets approved, you’ll need to pay Revvi’s $89 activation fee. You can pay this fee upfront or in monthly installments over a period of three months.

It’s important to note that your new Revvi Visa card won’t get activated and sent to you until your activation fee has been paid in full.

After you’ve paid the Revvi Visa card’s activation fee, you should get your new credit card within seven working days (usually in as little as three days).

Other Stuff You Should Know

There are a couple of other things you should know before you apply for a Revvi card.

First, there’s the ability to increase your credit limit. If you’ve been a Revvi cardholder for over 12 months, you can apply to increase your credit line using the Revvi app. You can also ask for a credit increase by calling customer service at (800) 845-4804.

Finally, the Revvi credit card can’t be used overseas. That means if you’re looking for a credit card that you can use when you’re on vacation in another country, the Revvi card might not be the best choice for you.

Alternative Credit Cards to the Revvi Credit Card

Here are five popular alternatives to the Revvi Visa card:

1.Destiny Mastercard

  • Unsecured credit card
  • Offers a $300 credit limit

2.Indigo Mastercard

Final Recommendation

Simply put, the Revvi Visa credit card could be a smart option for you if you have poor credit or want to boost your credit score. With the Revvi card, you can pre-qualify even if you have bad credit — and with its low credit limit, the Revvi card can be a way to build your credit back up in a responsible way.

But remember that if you want a credit card with high limits or no fees, the Revvi card might not be the best credit card for you.
