Walmart+ With Sam's Club Plus Is Here: What It Means for Your Amex Platinum Walmart+ Credit
September 27, 2026

Walmart just combined Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus into one $120 annual membership. If your Walmart+ is already covered by The Platinum Card® from American Express (See Rates & Fees) or the American Express® Business Gold Card, the new plan has a catch.
The Amex Walmart+ credit only pays for a monthly Walmart+ membership, and the new combined plan is annual. Switching to it ends your Amex statement credits.
Below, we break down what the new plan includes, how the Amex credit works, and whether switching makes sense for your wallet.

What Is Walmart+ With Sam's Club Plus?
Walmart launched Walmart+ with Sam's Club Plus on October 20, 2026. It costs $120 a year, which Walmart says is almost $100 less than paying for both memberships separately (Walmart announcement).
The plan includes:
- Sam's Club access with member-only pricing
- Free delivery from Walmart (on scheduled orders of $35 or more) and Sam's Club (on orders of $50 or more), subject to availability
- Your choice of Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, with the option to switch every 90 days
- Gas savings of 10 cents per gallon at more than 17,000 participating stations (5 to 10 cents in Alabama)
- 2% Sam's Cash on qualifying Sam's Club purchases, up to $750 per year
If you already have one of these memberships, Walmart offers these upgrade paths:
- Walmart+ annual members: switch to the combined plan for $22 more per year.
- Sam's Club members: upgrade to Sam's Club Plus for $60 more per year and get Walmart+ included.
- Sam's Club Plus members: activate Walmart+ at no additional cost by linking your accounts.
- Already paying for both: link your Walmart+ and Sam's Club accounts. Walmart says most members are eligible for a prorated Walmart+ refund.
Kudos tracks the Walmart+ credit alongside your other Platinum Card® credits, so you can see at a glance whether it posted this month. If you switch plans and the credit stops posting, you'll notice right away.

How Does the Amex Platinum Walmart+ Credit Work?
The Platinum Card® gives you a statement credit of up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes each month when you use it to pay for one monthly Walmart+ membership (subject to auto-renewal). American Express values this at up to $155 a year. Enrollment is required, and Plus Ups are excluded.
The credit applies only to monthly memberships. If you pay for Walmart+ annually, American Express will not issue statement credits for that membership. The American Express® Business Gold Card offers a Walmart+ monthly membership credit with the same structure.

Does the Amex Walmart+ Credit Cover the New $120 Plan?
No. Walmart's eligibility page says Platinum and Business Gold cardmembers can join Walmart+ with Sam's Club Plus. It also says the Amex benefit is only available for monthly Walmart+ members, so switching to the annual combined plan means you will no longer receive Amex statement credits.
Sam's Club's help center confirms that the Amex benefit covers the Walmart+ monthly base plan only. It does not cover Sam's Club Plus.
In practice, switching means paying $120 a year for a plan that includes a Walmart+ membership you were already getting at no out-of-pocket cost.
Should Amex Platinum Cardmembers Switch to the Combined Plan?
The answer depends on your current Sam's Club membership.
If You Don't Have a Sam's Club Membership
Keep paying for monthly Walmart+ with your Platinum Card®. The combined plan only makes sense if you would shop at Sam's Club often enough to justify the cost.
If you do switch, you would pay $120 a year and give up up to $155 a year in Amex Walmart+ credits. Compare that with buying a Sam's Club membership on its own while keeping your Amex-covered Walmart+.
Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on Walmart's $120 annual price and American Express's stated Walmart+ credit value of up to $155 per year.
If You Already Have Sam's Club Plus
Sam's Club Plus now includes Walmart+ Annual at no extra cost for the primary Plus member, but you need to link your Sam's Club and Walmart+ accounts to use it.
If you link accounts and stop paying for monthly Walmart+ with your Platinum Card®, you keep Walmart+ but the Amex credit goes unused. Your out-of-pocket cost stays the same because Walmart+ was free to you either way. What changes is how much value you get back from the Platinum Card®'s $895 annual fee.
If You Have a Basic Sam's Club Membership
Walmart lets Sam's Club members upgrade to Sam's Club Plus for $60 more per year with Walmart+ included. Since your Platinum Card® already covers Walmart+, judge that $60 on the Sam's Club Plus perks alone.
If You Have the Business Gold Card
The same rules apply. Walmart's eligibility page names both the Platinum Card® and the American Express® Business Gold Card, and switching to the annual combined plan ends the monthly credits on either card.
How Kudos Helps You Get More From Your Amex Credits
The Platinum Card® has credits that reset monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually, and it's easy to lose track of which ones you've used. Kudos shows your Walmart+ credit next to your other card benefits, so you can spot a missed credit before the month ends.
If you're deciding whether to keep Walmart+ through Amex or move to the combined plan, Kudos can also help you compare which card earns the most at Walmart and Sam's Club based on how you actually spend.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Amex Platinum Card Cover Walmart+ With Sam's Club Plus?
No. The Amex credit covers up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes per month for a monthly Walmart+ membership. Walmart+ with Sam's Club Plus is an annual plan, so it does not qualify.
Will I Lose My Amex Walmart+ Credit if I Link My Sam's Club and Walmart+ Accounts?
If you have Sam's Club Plus and link accounts, your included Walmart+ Annual replaces your paid monthly membership, and Walmart says most members are eligible for a prorated Walmart+ refund. Once a monthly Walmart+ charge stops posting to your Platinum Card®, you will stop receiving the Amex credit.
Can I Get Both Peacock and Paramount+ Through Walmart+?
No. Walmart+ lets you choose one ad-supported service, Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, and switch every 90 days. The Platinum Card®'s separate digital entertainment credit (enrollment required) can help cover eligible streaming subscriptions purchased directly from the provider.
Do Annual Walmart+ Memberships Qualify for the Amex Credit?
No. American Express only issues the Walmart+ credit for monthly memberships. If you have an annual Walmart+ membership, you need to switch to monthly before your renewal date to receive the credits.
Is the $120 Plan Worth It if I Don't Have an Amex Card?
If you would use both Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus, Walmart says the combined plan costs almost $100 less than buying them separately. If you only shop at one, a single membership may cost less.
