Wells Fargo Travel Portal Refresh Adds Southwest Flights
July 1, 2025

Wells Fargo just gave its travel booking portal a meaningful upgrade, and the headline change is a big one for points-focused travelers: Southwest flights are now bookable directly through the portal for the first time. Paired with new premium hotel perks through a luxury travel network, the update makes Wells Fargo's travel ecosystem noticeably more competitive with what Chase and American Express already offer their cardholders.
Here's what changed and who stands to benefit most.
What's New in Wells Fargo Travel
The refreshed portal is built to be more intuitive to navigate, and it's available to holders of Wells Fargo's rewards-earning travel cards. Beyond the interface improvements, the update brings three notable additions: Southwest flight bookings, expanded hotel perks through a luxury travel partner, and a larger overall inventory of bookable travel.
Southwest Bookings Are a Big Deal
Until now, Southwest flights have been notoriously hard to book through a major bank's travel portal — Chase has been the only issuer offering that option directly. Wells Fargo cardholders can now book Southwest flights using a credit card, rewards points, or a combination of both, closing a gap that's long pushed Southwest-loyal travelers toward booking directly with the airline instead of through their card issuer's portal.
Hotel Perks Through Virtuoso
Wells Fargo Travel users can now unlock elevated hotel benefits — think complimentary breakfast, more flexible check-in and check-out windows, and other on-property perks — through a partnership with Virtuoso, a luxury travel advisory network. It's a similar concept to the enhanced hotel programs Chase and American Express already offer their premium cardholders, and it gives Wells Fargo Travel users access to a tier of hotel perks that wasn't previously part of the portal experience.
A Larger Travel Marketplace
The refreshed portal also expanded its overall inventory significantly, giving members access to a much broader set of lodging options, airlines, car rental companies, and bookable activities worldwide. Points redeemed through the portal continue to carry a consistent, predictable value, which makes it easy to know exactly what a redemption is worth before you book.
Point Transfers Are Still an Option
Portal bookings are just one way to use Wells Fargo Rewards points — transfer partnerships remain available for cardholders who want to stretch their points further. Airline transfer partners include several international carriers' loyalty programs, and hotel transfer options are available as well, generally at less favorable ratios than the airline partners. For travelers comfortable navigating transfer sweet spots, this route can sometimes outperform a straight portal redemption.
Which Wells Fargo Card Fits This Update
This update matters most to holders of Wells Fargo's travel-focused cards, since portal access and point-earning are tied to those products specifically. If you're deciding whether one of these cards fits your travel style, Kudos' review of the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card breaks down its earning categories and annual perks in detail, and this comparison against the American Express Platinum Card® is useful if you're weighing a more premium alternative.
