FAMOUSLY YOU Rewards card

If you’re a shoe lover looking to maximize your credit card rewards in a way that’ll keep you on-trend, you might want to take a look at the FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS credit card.

FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS is a Famous Footwear credit card that’s unsecured and designed with frequent shoe shoppers in mind. That’s because it offers bonus rewards points when you use it to shop at Famous Footwear stores, online, or using the Famous Footwear app.

There are also no annual fees — but before you apply, there are a few important considerations about the Famous Footwear credit card you should bear in mind.

This guide will explain whether the FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS card is right for you, how the rewards structure of Famous Footwear’s credit card works, and how you can apply.

Is the Famous Footwear credit card for me?

The Famous Footwear credit card is a great credit card option for shoe shoppers who spend big on shoes at Famous Footwear stores (or customers who’re planning on buying a lot of shoes in the near future).

That’s because the FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS card offers a particularly high rewards program if you use your credit card on transactions at Famous Footwear locations or on the Famous Footwear website.

Famous Footwear’s credit card is issued by Comenity Capital Bank, which offers a number of co-branded credit cards, including the Toyota Rewards Visa. This type of credit card is designed specifically around rewarding you for brand loyalty. So, if you want to get big rewards shopping elsewhere, this might not be the card for you.

Likewise, if you’re looking for a credit card with a useful 0% APR promotional rate to stretch a big purchase, you may want to keep looking. The FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS card doesn’t offer any promotional interest rates — but if you’re going to spend loads of money on shoes, this card could give you a big rewards boost.

What makes the Famous Footwear credit card different?

The Famous Footwear credit card stands out from other rewards credit cards because it specifically rewards Famous Footwear shoppers for spending money in Famous Footwear branches or at famous.com.

In terms of rewards value, the FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS credit card will give you $5 worth of Reward Cash for every 100 points you earn as a FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS member. Once you’re ready to cash in on those rewards, you can redeem your Reward Cash at a Famous Footwear store or online.

What are my chances of getting approved?

The Famous Footwear co-branded rewards credit card doesn’t publish the minimum credit score that you’ll need to have to get approved. But generally speaking, card issuer Comenity Capital Bank requires a good or excellent credit score to qualify for one of its co-branded cards.

That means you’ll need a score of between 600 and 850. If you’re somewhere in that range, your chances of approval are good.

Illustration of man holding shoe standing next to credit meter

But if you have bad or fair credit, your approval chances aren’t good. Fortunately, you’ve still got a couple of options.

If you have a poor credit score but still want to earn rewards, you could check out a secured rewards card like the Revvi credit card. The Revvi Visa lets you earn cash back even if you have no credit history at all. There are other alternatives, too.

The Self Visa card and Destiny credit card are both popular secured credit cards that are designed for individuals with poor credit scores but still offer a few attractive incentives.

Perks and rewards

The FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS credit card splits its rewards scheme into two tiers: the STAR benefits scheme and the SUPERSTAR benefits scheme.

To help you understand the difference between the two, let’s do a quick breakdown of how each one works.

Infographic showing key offerings of Famous Footwear schemes

STAR benefits

The STAR benefits scheme is Famous Footwear’s lower rewards level. It offers you $5 in Reward Cash for every 100 points you spend at Famous Footwear. That said, this only counts up to a maximum of $75 in rewards points per transaction.

The Reward Cash is then automatically issued into your account five times per year:

  • Spring
  • Summer
  • Back to school
  • Fall
  • Winter holidays

If you don’t want to wait for Famous Footwear to issue your Reward Cash, that’s okay. You can ask a store associate at checkout or apply your rewards on the Famous Footwear app or famous.com.

Don’t forget: Famous Footwear Reward Cash expires 60 days after it’s issued — so you should spend it as soon as possible. Points are also subject to a cap — you can only accrue 5,000 points in a 12-month period.

The STAR benefits scheme also gives you free shipping on all purchases, $5 in Reward Cash on your birthday, exclusive offers, and double points on every purchase you make during your birthday month.

SUPERSTAR benefits

Famous Footwear’s SUPERSTAR benefits scheme is the higher rewards tier, and you can unlock it by spending $200 in a year.

SUPERSTAR members get 1.5 points for every $1 in purchases — as well as free shipping and $10 in Reward Cash on your birthday.

Just bear in mind that you must continue to spend at least $200 per year at Famous Footwear to retain your SUPERSTAR benefits. If you don’t, your account will automatically get downgraded to STAR status.

Applying for the Famous Footwear credit card couldn’t be simpler.

The card also doesn’t support balance transfers or cash advances. Finally, you can’t add an authorized user to your Famous Footwear credit card.

Final recommendation

At the end of the day, the FAMOUSLY YOU REWARDS credit card could be a great option if you’re a frequent Famous Footwear customer (or you plan on spending lots of money on shoes in the near future).

You earn pretty generous rewards points with the card whenever you spend money at Famous Footwear — and you can redeem those points for future shoe purchases. That means if you need to stock up for a full house when school rolls around, this card can help you get all sorted.

But if you’re looking for a rewards card that you can use for purchases at many different retailers, the Famous Footwear credit card might not be the best option. After all, there are other rewards cards that’ll give you more cash back upfront and more redemption options.
