Your Amex Platinum Loses Lufthansa Lounge Access on September 30

From October 1, the American Express Platinum Card®, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and Centurion® Card from American Express all lose access to Lufthansa lounges through the Global Lounge Collection. All of them, not a subset. September 30 is the last day.

What changes on October 1, 2026
This is not a forum rumour. Amex's own Global Lounge Collection pages state that eligible Card Members will no longer have access to Lufthansa Lounges from October 1, 2026, and that access runs through September 30, 2026.It applies to consumer Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion alike, and it covers every Lufthansa lounge rather than a category of them.
Kudos tracks what each of your cards actually earns and covers across the year, which makes the annual-fee-versus-value question much easier to answer honestly.
Benefits get removed more quietly than they get added. Kudos keeps the current benefit list for each of your cards in one place. See how automated perk tracking works.
What made this benefit unusual
Until September 30, the card is the ticket. You can be flying economy, on a different airline entirely, and still walk into a Senator lounge in Frankfurt. From October 1, those rooms are for Lufthansa premium-cabin passengers. Frankfurt and Munich are where this actually bites, because that is where most people were using it on a connection.
If the math no longer works, there are alternatives. The Kudos Explore tool matches cards to how you actually travel rather than to a best-of list. Explore cards with Kudos.
What you keep
Most of the collection is untouched:
- Centurion Lounges, US and international.
- Priority Pass, on enrollment.
- Delta Sky Club, 10 visits.
- Escape, Plaza Premium, Aspire and some Virgin Clubhouses.
More than 1,550 lounges remain in the collection after the change. Some Lufthansa lounges also participate in Priority Pass, so isolated indirect access may survive in places.
The context worth naming
The Platinum annual fee moved from $695 to $895 last year, with existing cardholders repriced at their first renewal on or after January 2 . The lounge list moved the other way inside the same twelve months. No announcement connects those two facts, and none has to. They simply both happened, and the second one is easier to miss than the first.
The bottom line
If you have a European connection before September 30, use it once more. If you never enrolled in Priority Pass, do that this week, because it is the closest substitute and it is already included. And if Frankfurt or Munich was a real part of why you carried the card, this is a fair moment to re-run the renewal math.
