Chase Travel Price Match Guarantee: How to Use It (2026)
July 1, 2025

Chase just quietly rolled out a price match guarantee on hotel bookings through its travel portal. If you're a Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ or JP Morgan Reserve cardholder, this could change how you book travel for good.
Here's a full breakdown of how it works, which cards are eligible, and how to actually use it.

What Is the Chase Travel Price Match Guarantee?
The Sapphire Reserve for Business is Chase's first premium business card in the Sapphire lineup, bringing the beloved Ultimate Rewards ecosystem to business owners who've been waiting for a high-end option. This card targets frequent business travelers and companies with significant advertising spend.
Chase Travel's new Price Match Guarantee lets eligible cardholders submit a claim if they find a lower rate for the same hotel room elsewhere online. If approved, Chase will refund the difference back to your original form of payment, whether that's cash or points.
That last part matters: unlike Capital One's version, which refunds as a travel credit (locking you into the portal again), Chase refunds directly to your card or points balance.
Which Cards Are Eligible?
As of now, the Price Match Guarantee is available to:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠
- JP Morgan Reserve Card (private clients)
Early reports suggest the personal Chase Sapphire Reserve® may be next. Chase's own terms and conditions reference it, and a Chase rep confirmed it's being considered for a broader rollout. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is not currently included.

How Does It Work?
Important Rules and Fine Print
The Sapphire Reserve for Business packs in numerous benefits that can help offset the annual fee:
- The room must be a true apples-to-apples match. Same room type, same bed configuration, same cancellation terms. A refundable rate cannot be matched to a non-refundable one.
- Only prepaid hotel reservations qualify. Flights are not included, at least not yet.
- The Edit hotel bookings are eligible, as long as you book entirely with your CSR Business points and/or cash. Mixing personal and business card payments makes the booking ineligible.
- Promo codes affect your refund. If your original booking used a promo code (like an IHG or Edit credit), your refund is limited to the cash or points portion only. The promo code portion is excluded.
- Points and credits may be adjusted. Chase reserves the right to deduct or reverse any points, credits, or benefits tied to the refunded amount
Does It Work With The Edit Hotels?
Yes, with caveats. Several cardholders have successfully price matched Edit bookings. The key: the booking must be made entirely using CSR Business points and/or cash. If you mix in a personal CSR for part of the payment, it won't qualify.
Note that Edit bookings come with added perks (room upgrades, property credits, early check-in/late checkout), and some of those benefits could complicate an exact apples-to-apples match with a direct or OTA rate that doesn't include them.
How Does This Compare to Capital One and Amex?
All three major travel portals now offer some form of price matching, but the details matter. Capital One has had price matching for a while, and Amex offers a limited version, though notably it excludes Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings, which are among the most popular reasons to use the Amex portal in the first place.
Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more. Eligibility and Benefit level vary by Card. Terms, Conditions, and Limitations Apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details. Underwritten by Amex Assurance Company.
Chase's version stands out in two key ways. First, it refunds directly to your original payment method: cash back to your card, points back to your balance. Capital One, by contrast, refunds as a travel credit, which locks you back into the portal for your next booking. Second, Chase's price match works on The Edit hotel bookings, giving luxury travelers a real incentive to book through the portal without worrying about leaving money on the table.
None of the three portals currently extend price matching to flights.
Chase's refund-to-original-payment approach is a meaningful advantage over Capital One's travel credit model, which effectively traps the refund value back in the portal.
Should This Change How You Book?
If you have an eligible Chase card, yes. The smart move is now to book through Chase Travel and then immediately shop for a lower rate elsewhere. If you find one, you get the portal's points earning rate plus the lower price. That's a genuine win.
For cardholders who have been defaulting to Capital One's portal for the price match perk, Chase's version is now a serious competitor, especially given the direct refund method.
Bottom Line
Chase's new Price Match Guarantee addresses one of the biggest complaints about booking through Chase Travel: the perception that portal rates run higher than direct or OTA prices. Whether or not that's always true, this benefit removes the risk entirely for eligible cardholders.
Book, compare, claim. It's now that simple.
Note: This benefit is currently in limited rollout for Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business and JP Morgan Reserve cardholders. Availability for personal Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders has not been officially confirmed. Check your Chase Travel booking details page to see if your reservation displays the Price Match Guarantee option.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Chase cards are eligible for the price match guarantee?
Currently, the Price Match Guarantee is available to Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business and JP Morgan Reserve cardholders. It is not yet available on the personal Chase Sapphire Reserve, though Chase's own terms and conditions reference it and a rollout to personal cardholders is widely expected.
Does the price match work on The Edit hotels?
Yes. Multiple cardholders have had Edit bookings successfully price matched. The key is that your booking must be made entirely using CSR Business points and/or cash. Mixing payment methods (such as combining personal CSR points with business card cash) makes the booking ineligible.
How do I submit a price match claim?
After booking, go to your booking details page in Chase Travel. If your reservation is eligible, a price match link will appear there. Click it to fill out the claim form and submit a screenshot of the lower rate you found elsewhere.
How long do I have to submit a claim?
You have 24 hours from the time of booking to submit a price match claim. Check rates immediately after booking to avoid missing the window.
Can I price match against Expedia or Booking.com?
Yes. Cardholders have successfully price matched against both Expedia and Booking.com, as well as direct hotel websites. OTAs are fair game as long as the rate is for an identical room with the same terms.
Does the price match work if I pay with points?
Yes, and if approved, Chase will refund the difference in points, not cash. The refund method mirrors your original form of payment.
Will Chase claw back my IHG or Edit credit if I get a price match?
Potentially, yes. Chase's terms state that a price match refund may impact points, credits, or other benefits earned on the refunded amount. If your booking triggered an IHG or Edit property credit, it's worth calling Chase to confirm those credits remain intact after a price match is applied.
Does the price match apply to flights?
No. The Price Match Guarantee currently applies only to prepaid hotel reservations made through Chase Travel. Flights are not included.
What if the lower rate I found has different cancellation terms?
It won't qualify. The price match requires an apples-to-apples comparison. It must be the same room type, same bed configuration, and the same cancellation policy. A refundable rate cannot be matched to a non-refundable one, and vice versa.
