Citi Copa Airlines Transfer Partner: What ThankYou Points Holders Should Know
September 27, 2026

Citi added a new way to use ThankYou Points on Oct. 25, 2026: Copa Airlines is now a Citi transfer partner. The new Citi Copa Airlines transfer partner option opens up Copa ConnectMiles, the loyalty program of a Star Alliance member, with U.S. flights to the Caribbean, Central America and South America as the obvious use. According to Travel On Points, Citi is the first U.S. card program to transfer to Copa.
Here is what is known so far about ratios, timing and award pricing, and which cardholders come out ahead.
Ratios Matter. Premium Citi cards transfer 1:1 while no annual fee cards transfer 1:0.7. Read our Citi Strata Premier review.
1. The New Citi Copa Airlines Transfer Partner
Copa ConnectMiles joins Citi’s list of airline transfer options. Copa is a Star Alliance member, which is the main reason this partner is worth a look for travelers heading south from the U.S.
Copa joins these other Citi airline transfer partners:
- Aeromexico Rewards
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue
- American Airlines AAdvantage
- Avianca LifeMiles
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- Emirates Skywards
- Etihad Guest
- EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
- Japan Airlines Mileage Bank
- JetBlue TrueBlue
- Qantas Frequent Flyer
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
Citi also transfers to five hotel programs: Accor Live Limitless, Choice Privileges, Leading Hotels of the World, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, and Wyndham Rewards. Transfer ratios vary by partner and by which Citi card holds your points.
Transfers usually post within 24 hours, though they can take up to 5 business days. The minimum transfer is 1,000 points, and no transfer bonus was announced at launch. Check Citi’s transfer page for current terms before you move any points.
Before you transfer anything, check which of your Citi cards holds the points, since the ratio changes by card.
Watch For Bonuses. Transfer bonuses can stretch your points further than a flat ratio. See this month's transfer bonuses
2. Transfer Ratios by Citi Card
Your ratio depends on the card that holds the points. Per Travel On Points, transfers are 1:1 from the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card, the Citi Strata Premier® Card, the Citi Prestige® Card and the AT&T Access More card. Cards with no annual fee, including the Citi Strata℠ Card, the Citi Double Cash® Card and the Citi Custom Cash® Card, transfer at 1:0.7.
That gap adds up. A 10,000 point transfer becomes 10,000 Copa miles from a premium card but 7,000 miles from a no annual fee card. Calculation formulated by Kudos, based on the reported 1:1 and 1:0.7 transfer ratios.

The Citi Strata Premier® Card carries a $95 annual fee, while the Citi Strata℠ Card and Citi Double Cash® Card both have a $0 annual fee. Check Citi directly for the current terms on the Strata Elite, Prestige and AT&T Access More cards.

3. What Copa Award Pricing Looks Like
Copa uses a fixed award chart based on region. A U.S. flight to the Caribbean, Central America or South America starts at 15,000 miles in economy. Copa also allows free stopovers on eligible awards, and its awards do not carry carrier surcharges.
One catch: Copa miles expire after 24 months, though any earning or redeeming activity resets the clock. Transferring points years ahead of a trip is the wrong move, since transfers cannot be reversed.
4. Who Should Transfer and Who Should Wait
If you hold ThankYou Points on a premium Citi card and have a specific trip to Central or South America in mind, the 1:1 ratio makes this a strong new option. Confirm award space on Copa first, then transfer only what the booking needs. Our Citi Strata Premier review covers how that card earns.
If your points sit on a no annual fee card, the 1:0.7 ratio cuts your value by 30 percent compared with a premium card. Compare it against other redemptions before you transfer, and watch for bonuses in our monthly transfer bonus roundup.
The Bottom Line
The Citi Copa Airlines transfer partner is a useful addition for anyone who already earns ThankYou Points on a premium card and flies to Latin America and the Caribbean. It is a weaker deal from no annual fee cards, and with no bonus attached there is no rush. Confirm award space, check the ratio for your card, and transfer only when you are ready to book.
Kudos shows you which card earns the most points on every purchase, so the balance you transfer later is as big as it can be.
