• It's Free: There's no fee to update your card design through this process.

• Limited Time: American Express hasn't announced an official end date for the mirrored design availability, but limited-edition designs are typically available for a short window only. If you want it, act sooner rather than later.

• Card Number Will Change: When you request a replacement card with a new design, you'll receive a new card number.

• Update Saved Cards: Since your card number will change, you'll need to update any merchants where you have your card saved for recurring payments (subscriptions, utilities, streaming services, etc.).

• No Account Changes: While your card number changes, your account number, credit limit, benefits, and rewards balance all remain the same.

• Timing: Existing cardholders can use the new credits immediately, even if their annual fee just posted at the $695 rate. The increased $895 fee won't hit until the next renewal after January 2, 2026.

About the Platinum Card Refresh

The mirror card design launched as part of the card's first fee hike in four years and its most significant refresh since 2021. The annual fee is increasing from $695 to $895‍, with existing cardholders seeing the new rates applied on their membership anniversary dates beginning December 2, 2025.

The good news? All your current Amex Platinum perks are staying put, with new additions including an up to $600 prepaid hotel credit, up to $300 U.S lululemon credit, up to $400 U.S Resy credit, and more. Enrollment may be required for select benefits.
